Why I built it
Multiple Macs. One desk. One pair of hands.
I work across multiple Macs on one desk. Apps for sharing a keyboard and mouse between computers already exist, but none of the ones I tried were right.
I love Apple’s trackpad gestures. Swiping between spaces, pinching to zoom, that’s just how I use a Mac. None of the apps I tried, free or paid, let me use them on my other Macs, and that really itched. They also felt laggy and were a hassle to connect, so switching Macs always felt like a compromise.
So I built Continuo. The goal: make every Mac on your desk feel like one continuous place to work, while each keeps its own screen and identity.
The difference
What was missing, and what Continuo does.
Features
The details that make it feel right.
- 01
Native trackpad gestures
Pinch, swipe and rotate on the Mac you’re using, even when the pointer is on another Mac.
- 02
Wake a Mac
Wake a sleeping Mac from the menu bar when it supports Wake for network access.
- 03
Unlock without opening the lid
Type your password at a locked Mac or its login window, even after a restart. My MacBooks stay folded on external monitors, and I never have to open one just to log in.
- 04
Share a working folder
Mount a folder from another Mac in Finder and work with it where it already lives.
FAQ
Questions
Can I use one keyboard, mouse and trackpad with multiple Macs?
Yes. With Continuo you move the pointer past the edge of one screen and keep working on the next Mac, with the same keyboard, mouse and trackpad. Each Mac keeps its own display.
Do trackpad gestures work on the other Mac?
Yes. Pinch, swipe and rotate work natively on whichever Mac the pointer is on, which was the main reason I built Continuo.
How is Continuo different from Universal Control?
Universal Control needs every Mac signed in to the same Apple Account, and the Macs awake and logged in. Continuo pairs Macs on different accounts, can wake a sleeping Mac, and lets you type at the login screen. Universal Control also drives an iPad, which Continuo does not.
Can I unlock a closed MacBook without opening the lid?
Yes. If your MacBooks stay folded on external monitors, you can type the password at the lock screen or login window from the keyboard in front of you, even after a restart.
Does my data leave my network?
No. Peer traffic is encrypted and stays on your local network. There is no account, no cloud relay and no telemetry.
Which macOS version do I need?
macOS 15 or newer on every Mac.
